  “Psycho Party” on blue vinyl – MENTAL BAIT release a new 7’’ on Brainbug Records
  On their debut album “These Killing Nights” (Crazy Love Records) MENTAL BAIT from Belarus did let the Eight ball roll. On their latest release “Psycho Party” (Brainbug Records, limited to 300 copies) they dedicate the first track, “Slot Hell” to the one armed bandit and even include some adequate sound samples. Gambling, drinking, wrecking – the agenda of the band is quite clear to see. The Quartet combines a sense for the essence of Psychobilly with a fresh sound that includes a lot of singalong stimulus, mainly in the portrait of a murderous, possessed mind, called “Novinky Loony Bin” and the title track “Psycho Party”.
  It is inevitable in this case, to keep quiet about the fitments of this release. First of all I have to mention the fantastic artwork done by the mighty Oscar Hertin, that somehow really sums up the vibe of the four tracks. If this page here will ever gain cult status, I would love to see it eternized by him. Besides the thrilling artwork, the four track-vinyl comes along with an inlay, including all lyrics and credits. “Let’s Go! To Psycho Party! Let’s Go! Go mental Buddy” – you can take this as a promise concerning the musical direction. Even if Lovecraft and his cosmic horror seem to be a little more absent on this small format, compared to the first album – the genuine temper of the songs is still the mood you are in when jumping around in your padded room with a straight jacket, while having fun. The sound is rather natural and direct, which fits the impression that the band is here for the real connoisseurs of the scene. Who needs overdubbed guitars and digital smoothening if he can have some ever-present slappin‘ bass, nice melodies and the necessary grain of aggression? “Psycho Party” is not a game of hazard. If you dig the cover, be expectant to find an audio-equivalent here. If the motive with its puking psychos is to disturbing, just go on listening to THE BASEBALLS.
  “Psycho Party” is a collector’s item, but that’s not the main reason why you should go for it. The blue vinyl contains four high quality wrecking tunes that combine old school drive and modern approach in an exemplary way. Basic (just listen to the middle part of “Slot Hell”) and effective. If you are not afraid of punkrock/horrorpunk-related backing choirs and can stand fast psycho tunes, get it, before it is sold out. The songs are really worth it and I hope for a second longplayer to be released soon. Until then, songs like “Death Race” with its memorable guitar-theme will please us. The fact that the band now operates as a four-piece instead of a trio doesn’t change anything concerning the overall attitude. In case you like parties that even end with a certain feeling for style, “Psycho Party” can score once more: at the end you will find a nice outro. So the conclusion is: Big fun on a small format! In this case I don’t have to offer anything to listen to for free. You can look for the youtube stuff you will find for the first album. Trust me, trust MENTAIL BAIT, trust Brainbug Records an order it!

  Auf ihrem Debütalbum „This Killing Nights" (Crazy Love Records) ließen MENTAL BAIT aus Weißrussland die Kugel mit der schwarzen Acht rollen. Auf ihrer neuesten Veröffentlichung "Psycho Party" (Brainbug Records, limitiert auf 300 Exemplare) widmen sie sich nun im ersten Track, „Slot Hell“ dem einarmigen Banditen und bauen sogar einige passende Sound-Samples mit ein. Spielen, Trinken, Wrecken – die Agenda der Band ist klar umrissen. Das Quartett verbindet einen Sinn für das ursprüngliche Wesen des Psychobilly mit einem frischen Sound, der vor allem im Porträt eines mörderischen, besessenen Geistes, „Novinky Loony Bin“ und im Titeltrack „Psycho Party“ eine Menge Singalong-Stimulation beinhaltet,
  Im Falle dieser Veröffentlichung ist es unvermeidlich, auch ein paar Worte über die Ausstattung zu verlieren: Zunächst einmal wäre da die fantastische Cover-Gestaltung durch den begnadeten Oscar Hertin, der die Stimmung der vier Stücke mustergültig zusammenfasst. Sollte diese Seite hier jemals Kultstatus erlangen, würde ich sie gerne durch ihn verewigt sehen. Neben dem fantastischen Artwork kommt das Vier-Track-Vinyl mit einem Inlay einschließlich aller Texte und Credits daher. „Let’s Go! To Psycho Party! Let’s Go! Go mental Buddy” Das darf man durchaus als Versprechen hinsichtlich der musikalische Stoßrichtung verstehen. Auch wenn Lovecraft und sein kosmischer Horror im Vergleich zum ersten Album ein wenig in den Hintergrund getreten zu sein scheinen: Das Temperament der Songs entspricht nach wie vor der Grundstimmung, in der man mit einer Zwangsjacke bekleidet durch die Gummizelle hüpft und seinen, Spaß hat.
  Das Klangbild ist ziemlich natürlich und direkt, was zum Gesamtweindruck passt, dass die Band etwas für echte Szene-Liebhaber ist. Wer braucht gedoppelte Gitarren und digitalen Feinschliff, wenn es auch ein Slapin 'Bass, schöne Melodien und das nötige Quantum Aggression tun? „Psycho Party“ ist kein Glücksspiel. Wenn Euch das Cover anspricht, erwartet ruhig, dass sich auf der Scheibe ein passendes Audio-Äquivalent findet. Wenn das Motiv mit seinen kotzenden Psychos zu verstörend ist, empfiehlt es sich allerdings eher, weiterhin die BASEBALLS zu hören. „Psycho Party“ ist ein Sammlerstück, aber das ist nicht der Hauptgrund, warum man sich dieses Kleinformat anschaffen sollte. Das blaue Vinyl enthält vier hochwertige Kompositionen für den geneigten Wrecking-Pit-Besucher. Sie verbinden den Schub der alten Schule mit modernen Ansätzen. Teilweise auf das Wesentliche reduziert (hört mal in den Mittelteil von „Slot Hell“ rein) und immer ausgesprochen wirkungsvoll. Wenn Ihr keine Berührungsängste habt, was Backing-Chöre aus dem Bereich Punkrock/Horrorpunk und schnelle Psychotherapie-Melodien angeht, schnappt Euch das Teil, ehe es ausverkauft ist. Die Songs sind wirklich hörenswert und ich hoffe, dass uns möglichst bald auch ein zweiter Longplayer ins Haus steht. Bis dahin sollten Nummern wie „Death Race"“ mit seinem prägnanten Gitarren-Thema ausreichen, uns bei Laune zu halten. Dass die Band nunmehr als Quartett statt als Trio operiert, ändert nichts am Gesamtbild. Wenn Ihr Partys mögt, die stilvoll enden „Psycho Party“ kann in dieser Hinsicht punkten. Am Schluss findet sich noch ein nettes kleines Outro. Fazit: Großer Spaß im kleinen Format! Leider kann ich in diesem Fall keine Hörprobe anbieten, da sich bei youtube nur Titel vom Debütalbum finden. Vertraut mir einfach. Vertraut MENZAL BAIT und vertraut Brainbug Records. Am besten einfach bestellen!
  
  Дебютный альбом от MentalBait These Killing Nights (Crazy Love rec.) завертелся бильярдным шаром, а на своем последнем релизе Psycho Party ( Brainbug rec. тираж 300 копий) они посвятили первую песню Slot Hell одноруким бандитам, включив в нее оригинальные семплы. Азартные игры, пьянство, угар - посыл группы очевиден. Квартет собрал лучшее от сайкобилли, бодрящий саунд с хоровыми распевами, нацеленными на одержимые умы в треках Novinki Looney Bin и Psycho Party.
  
  Ну и неминуемо перейдем к составляющим релиза. Во первых, это фантастическая работа от великого Оскара Хертина, объединившая в себе энергетику четырех треков, и раз уж облога тянет на культовый статус, то я просто обязан увидеть что за ней! И вот помимо потрясающего рисунка мы имеем пластинку на 4 дорожки, вкладыш с лирикой и прочей инфой. “Let’s Go! To Psycho Party! Let’s Go! Go mental Buddy” - что ж, обещаю работать в этом направлении. Влияния Лавкрафта ощутимо меньше на этом альбоме, чем на предыдущем, основной характер песен скорее настраивает на веселые прыжки по обитой войлоком комнате в смирительной рубашке. Натуральное звучание создает впечатление, что группа чисто для ценителей сцены. Кому нужны переозвученные гитары и цифровые сглаживания, когда есть вездесущий треск контрика и отличные мелодии с долей агрессии?! Если врубаетесь, то ожидайте услышать здесь аудио-эквиваленты привычных мелодий. Но если тошнотворное сайко вас раздражает, то слушайте Baseballs!
  Psycho Party коллекционное издание, но это не главное. Синий винил содержит четыре качественных разрушительных песни, сочетающих современный подход и напор старой школы. Базовый (просто послушай середину Slot Hell) и эффективный. Если вас не напрягают хоррорпанковские хоровые бэк-вокалы и скоростные сайко мотивы, то успейте приобрести этот релиз, пока его не расхватали. Песни того стоят, и я таки надеюсь на выход второго лонгплея. До того времени, песни типа Death Race с запоминающейся гитарной темой будут вас радовать. Факт, что группа, состоящая теперь из четырех человек не изменила свой основной подход к творчеству. В случае, если вы любите тусовки, которые заканчиваются так же круто, как и начинаются, Psycho Party отметится снова: в конце есть неплохое Outro. И напоследок: много удовольствия на малом формате, но у меня нет возможности дать вам это послушать. На Ютубе вы можете найти материал из первого альбома.
